Machine Quilting Policies

Ø  The maximum size of the quilt is 126" wide x 130" long.

Ø  Backing and batting must extend 6" beyond the quilt top in all directions.

Ø  Pohlar Fabrics is not responsible for folds, tucks, pleats, fullness, or skewed corners on the quilt resulting from fullness in seams, blocks, and borders. We will do our best to avoid these, but they may occur. 

Ø  Bed sheets will not be accepted for backs.

Ø  If piecing backing, please leave ALL selvages on the fabric.

Ø  Printed quilt backs that are sewn together - the print will not be matched. Any special requests must be stated at the time of dropping off the quilt for quilting.

Ø  Please sew 1/8” around the quilt to stabilize the quilt before quilting.

Ø  The backing should have as few seams as possible; 1 seam is ideal.

Ø  QUILT and BACK must be clean and free of odors and pet hair.

Ø  We will not cut or trim your quilt top.

Ø  The top should be pressed, and any long threads should be clipped.

Ø  Finished Quilts should be picked up within 30 days of notification; otherwise, a $5/month carrying fee will apply.

Ø  If we put a Hem or Binding on your quilt, please note the following:

o   Hemming and Binding are done by machine.  The binding will be machine-stitched on the back and topstitched on the front.  A Hem will be topstitched on the front.

o   Up to 2 lines of stitching may show on the back.

o   We are human, and lines are not straight!

Machine Quilting Prices

Ø  All-over stippling cost $0.025 per square inch.  The minimum charge is $50.

Ø  Batting and thread must be purchased from Pohlar Fabrics.

Ø  Purchasing Backing, Batting, and Thread from Pohlar Fabrics at the time of quilt top drop-off, you will receive 25% off the backing, batting, and thread.

Ø  Backing, Batting, and thread must be paid for at the time of quilt drop-off.

Ø  Our standard turnaround time is 8–16 weeks.

Ø  If you need your quilt back sooner than the standard turnaround time, a $50 rush fee applies.  YOU MUST tell us at the time of drop-off if you need it by a specific date.  Calling in after the quilt has been dropped off and wanting it back by a certain date will not be accepted.

Ø  Christmas cut-off Date – October 1st – after this date, a $50 rush fee will be applied if a quilt needs to be finished before Christmas.

Ø  Quilting Mending - $25 per hour

Preparing Your Quilt For Quilting

Ø  The backing must be 6" larger than the quilt top on all sides.

Ø  If you are sewing your backing together, we ask that you leave the selvages on, use a 1/2" seam allowance, and press the seam open.

Ø  Please press your quilt top as best as you can and remove any threads on the right side of the quilt.

Ø  Please stitch 1/8" around your quilt to secure the outer edge of your quilt.
